Welcome to our web site!
Chapter IX serves the ALCA members of nine Alabama Counties: Barbour, Coffee, Covington, Dale, Crenshaw, Geneva, Henry, Houston, and Pike.  Our chapter has approximately 120 members and continues to grow.

ALCA has more than 2000 members.  It serves as a dynamic network of professional counselors in the State of Alabama.  ALCA is devoted to the professional development and maintenance of high standards for those involved in the counseling profession.  The professionals of ALCA work in education, health care, residential, private practice, community agencies, government, and business/industry settings.

Members share the common values of:
  • Caring for self and others
  • Respecting diversity
  • Encouraging positive change
  • Acquiring and using knowledge
  • Empowering leadership

Chapter IX follows the same purpose, goals, and background of the Alabama Counseling Association.

The Alabama Counseling Association (ALCA) is a 2000 person strong state branch of the 50,000 member American Counseling Association (ACA).  Serving as a dynamic network of professional counselors in the State of Alabama, ALCA is devoted to the professional development and maintenance of high standards for those involved in the counseling profession.  ALCA professionals work in education, health care, residential, private practice, community agencies, government and business/industry settings.

The purpose of chapter IX is to increase the popularity of our common interests while serving the nine counties of our chapter. We hope to add new members so we will be able to grow and expand. We also want to have fun while when we are together and working on projects. By developing relationships, friendships, and networks, the organization will become even stronger.  We will accomplish this by networking with other chapters and organizations while helping to make our own organization more productive.

Our Mission

Our mission is to further promote the interests of counseling to our members and to the community. We strive to make a difference by educating the public on the counseling profession as a whole.
